Circulair Mainframe

Today the climate agreement is presented in broad outline to Minister Wiebes. Here the climate measures until 2030 and the transition path to a CO2-neutral society in 2050 are outlined. The Climate Agreement amounts to one of the biggest tasks for spatial planning in the coming decades. StudioMarcoVermeulen has, on behalf of the ministries of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and National Affairs and Kingdom Relations, contributed to a coherent spatial development of the results of the climate table Industry. On Friday a.s. these results will be officially published.

The transition to a circular economy and the exchange of, inter alia, other heat, CO2, biogas, electricity, hydrogen and biomass require new infrastructures (eg heat networks) or the smart reuse of existing infrastructures and pipelines. For many of the systems, scaling up leads to a more robust and efficient system (economy of scale). Combining these systems and associated infrastructures makes spatial integration easier and often possible in existing pipeline routes or along motorways. This makes it possible to envisage a 'circular mainframe' that will be a precursor for the establishment of biochemical industry, greenhouse horticulture, businesses and possibly even for the still to be realized million homes. This main structure for the exchange of raw materials and energy will act as a spatial hull for future, sustainable developments and transformations and accelerate them.
